Hinchinbrook Island National Park - Planned burn program

This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burns from May to September 2017 as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests. These burns are being undertaken to help reduce fuel loads and promote conservation outcomes. Smoke may be seen coming from within Hinchinbrook Island National Park during these events. Additional park alerts will be created when a planned burn is likely to impact on specific sections of Hinchinbrook Island National Park or the Thorsborne Trail. Please check park alerts regularly for detailed information about when and where planned burns will occur.
