ex-TC Debbie update - Lamington National Park partially open
This alert applies to the following parks:
Following damage from ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie, some areas of Lamington National Park are now partially open. Stay alert for hazards and drive to the conditions.
Open areas in Binna Burra section include:
- Upper and lower day-use areas;
- Visitor information centre;
- Rainforest circuit;
- Tullawallal loop track;
- Lower Bellbird circuit including the track to Bellbird lookout;
- Daves Creek circuit;
- Upper Ballunjui track; and
- The Border track - please note there is currently no public vehicle access to Green Mountains and the camping areas remain closed. Walkers will need to return to Binna Burra.
All other walking tracks in Binna Burra section remain closed until declared safe. Note: A long term closure will apply to the Caves circuit due to a significant landslide.
The Green Mountains section remains closed due to the public closure of Lamington National Park Road by the road authority.
All camping areas, including remote bush camping areas, remain closed.
The Gold Coast and Hinterland Great Walk also remains closed until it can be assessed.
QPWS rangers are currently working on repairs to the other walking tracks and facilities. Observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers, and do not enter closed areas.
All permits for closed areas are suspended for the duration of the closure. To apply for a refund or gift card, please visit www.qld.gov.au/camping.
Commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are not permitted to enter closed areas.
